Minna Choi, Violin
Minna Choi, violinist and educator, is a resident musician and the Fellowship Program Director at Community MusicWorks in Providence, Rhode Island. Minna was a founding member of the Providence String Quartet, and performs regularly as a part of the MusicWorks Collective at CMW. In addition, Minna is an active freelance musician and has played with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra and the Chorus of Westerly. In 2024 Minna was the soloist in the Reena Esmail violin concerto Concerto for You with CMW. Other musical highlights include collaborations with the Borromeo, Turtle Island, and St. Lawrence String Quartets and with violist Kim Kashkashian and pianist Emanuel Ax. Influential teachers include Eric Rosenblith, Katie Lansdale, and Lois Finkel. Minna’s interest in education began in her undergraduate years while studying the works of John Dewey, and she is passionate about music education as a vehicle for youth development.
